Sleeping in at an RV park, and cute cats

WELCOME, Susan S!  Thank you for following my blog, I enjoyed reading yours, and hope you enjoy following along with me and Katie!

This is something I've been thinking about:  How easy is it to sleep in when staying at an RVpark?

Then Margie, (My Healthy Living Thru Weight Control), mentioned in her blog today that she and her husband, Bruce, set the alarm for 6:30 a.m. every day.  They are full-timers.  I work four days a week, and always set my alarm for those work mornings to make sure I am up on time.  Just In Case.  Since I've been doing this for so long now, I usually wake up before the alarm goes off.  But on the other three days, unless I have to be somewhere early, I NEVER set it.  I still usually wake up early, unless I'm really tired.

I was always a sleeper when I was young, I always hit the snooze button over and over, and got up at the last minute. As a teenager I slept in as long as I could on weekends, 10 or 11:00 a.m.  Drove my mother crazy!

My grandmother was an early riser, one of those people who wake up and get up really early, like 5:00 a.m. - every day.  No alarm.  I always wished I could do that and now I can, kind of.

Speaking of clocks and time, this little YouTube video is funny - a tiny bit off color, but funny:

My plan when I am a full-timer is to get up when I wake up without having to set an alarm.  I don't expect to be much of a sight-seer, I just want to park and live in different areas of different states.  I've wondered, though, how easy it is to sleep in when one is parked in an RV  park.  The rigs seem to be very close together, and unless I'm boondocking or staying in a relatively empty park, wouldn't the normal noise of people getting up, going out, moving around, starting cars, etc. wake me up, and everyone trying to sleep in?

Might seem silly, but this is something I've been wondering about.

Speaking of silly, here's an April Fool's Day prank I read on-line.  Don't try this at home:

"I set the alarm clock for one minute past midnight so it was April 1st. The alarm went off, my husband got up, shaved, showered and then came back to the bedroom to get dressed, checked the clock and, well, he didn’t talk to me for two weeks."  LOL!

Even though I am a dog person, I have had cats in the past.  When I lived in Pollock Pines, CA, I had two cats, Baxter, a grey tabby, and Brady, an orange tabby.  They were the best cats, and I really miss them.  These are two photos I have of them, and I thought you might enjoy seeing them.

They were so cute together.

Judy, what kind of bird is this?
Baxter's favorite place on the deck.
This bird feeder didn't attract many birds!

From me and Katie, have a good evening, everyone! :)

  1. Thanks for the shout out on your post today. Actually, I don't think you'd have a hard time sleeping in a bit when you're in an RV park. That is unless you are a super-light sleeper. Some parks are noisier than others, but for the most part I think you'll be OK with the "sleep-in" plan.

We love visiting other cities and we do some sightseeing a little bit every place we go. However, we do just like being different places. That is the beauty of RV living....you have wheels and you can go anywhere that you can drive to.

Beautiful cats in your photos. The one where the gray one has his paw on the other one is priceless.

  2. The video was very funny. I normally skip all uTube links because of bandwidth limitations with my air card, but this one was worth it.

I never found the noise in an RV park to be a problem. I have to get up to take my dog out in the morning, and she doesn't go so much by the clock as by when it's daylight. I just wake up early most days - I sometimes crawl back in bed later in the morning if I feel like it.

  3. I haven't had any problems sleeping in the RV in the parks i have been in, but i have to preface that by saying that once i get to sleep i normally don't wake up and rv's come and go & i don't hear a thing & the windows are open some of the time too. I have been in 8 different parks so far. some really close and some just a normal distance, maybe another rv distance apart. no probs, everyone is pretty quiet and courteous

  4. The photos of the cats are adorable - I can see why you miss them. I think it would be difficult to sleep in in an RV park. There's always someone who wants to leave early. But I think you'll find that you'll go to bed earlier and get plenty of sleep. So don't worry! It's a great life.

  5. Hmmm! Looks like a white-chinned catbird to me! :)

Emma is my alarm, and like Lady, wakes me at dawn. :(

  6. We don't have any problem sleeping in Parks at all. You become accustomed to the noises in Parks, just like you do at home. In the summer we have the humming of the air conditioner, and in the winter we have the furnace, but we really don't find them all that bad. You will love it.

  7. I'm a super light sleeper, am more interested in boondocking because of this reason alone. I can't always be assured of a good night's sleep in an RV park.
I go to bed early and wake late.
I can sleep at least 10-12 hours a night. If I was allowed!

Love the photos of the kitties. I had two kitties until it was determined my new baby was allergic to them so I had to give them away.
10 years later I still think of them. I'm pretty sure they are at the Rainbow Bridge now, waiting for me.

    Cheers!

  10. My dog wakes me long before anyone else in the RV Park is up and making noise in the morning. We are the offenders if there are any in the Park. Sleeping in for me is 7:00am but can't convince my dog to do it.
