We're at Navajo Lake State Park, NM

Boy, are we beat!  But we made it to Navajo Lake State Park in New Mexico.

It's really hot, when we got here in the late afternoon The Palms was over 96 degrees.  It's 7:30 now, and with the A/C running since we got here, the temp in here is still 90.7.  It's going down realllly sloooow.  Katie is sound asleep, and I'm sure I'll be in bed early.  Between the drive and all the errands we ran on the way and the heat, I'm really tired.

We are overlooking a large lake going off in different directions, which we can also see.  It's really a beautiful view.  Here's our campsite and the view from the chair I was sitting in:

These photos are reversed time-wise - here is the dam - we drove by it on our way to the State Park:

This is the marina that we passed.  We can see it from our campsite.

There was a lot of interesting terrain on our way here. There were even some really nice Hoodoos, but I couldn't get a good photo, they were gone before I had the camera in hand.  I thought this area was interesting.

That's all for today.  Tomorrow we should be able to manage the heat inside The Palms better. By the time we got here, it was just out of control, and probably won't cool down in here until the middle of the night.

From Me and Katie, have a great Thursday evening, everyone!  :)

  1. Looks like a beautiful place. I hope you can get cooler tomorrow. Dogs are pretty smart about sleeping away stress no matter what it comes from--even heat.

  3. The heat is starting to build here in Montana also. Glad you've got hook ups so you can have air while you're there. Get a good night's sleep.

  5. Gorgeous view but with the heat there are a lot of cooler places I'd want to be. Maybe in the lake would help.

  6. Those BOR campgrounds are really nice places. Water and usually lots of space in the sites. Nice to see another one.

  7. We run the generator and the roof air while we drive so everything stays nice and cool all the time.

  8. We really enjoyed Navajo Lake, but we had to stay at the Cottonwood campground below, on the river, because we didnt fit in any of the sites by the lake. You have a perfect spot it looks like.

  9. That's a beautiful place. Hopefully you'll be cooler soon. We also run the genny with the roof a/c while we travel. It costs a little more, but well worth it, for us and the kitties.

  11. This heat is very strange. It has been in the mid 90's here in the White Mountains all week. I was so happy my a/c worked.

I am happy you have hook ups to keep a/c working and your space has beautiful views.
    Stay cool

  13. We were thinking of stopping at Navajo Lake when we leave El Vado Lake Sunday but saw that it's even hotter there, so decided to move on into CO. Sorry we're going to miss you! You would like it here at El Vado, too. Just be sure to stock up before you come since it's a long drive to Chama.

  14. It's really hot here in Texas, with forecasts of 100+ all next week. I'd love to be by the lake where you are! I too was wondering if you could go swimming.

Just curious - how do you decide your route and how long to stay at each site? I know a lot of them have limits, but do you always stay the limit?
