Waking up to horses, Bluewater Lake, NM

I've been so lazy!  Just haven't felt like blogging but Katie and I are really enjoying Bluewater Lake State Park.  I woke up to horses in my site this morning.  They are so quiet I didn't know they were there until I opened my shades - and there they were, eating grass.  So cool!

Then they walked down the hill to the fields by the lake, where two younger horses started horsing around:

They didn't look like they were fighting, just playing.  Then the rest of the group, seven of them, walked up and they all sauntered over to another little grassy area to eat.  Fun to watch!  They are beautiful, shiny horses, very healthy looking. This area must provide all the food and water they need to stay in top shape.  I haven't seen the whole herd for a few days.

Here's my camp site, above the lake.  It's a big, clean, clear site.  Very pretty:

This is The Palms - photo taken from down where the horses were playing:

These photos are from last week after I moved up the hill to my current site:

I think this is my favorite place to be since I started traveling.  The weather has been really nice - and by that I mean MY nice.  Which is sunny and warm, not hot, then cloudy and rainy and lightening and thunderstorms.  I just love this weather.  I got my first lightening photo, couldn't believe it when I actually got one.

 Looking out at the rain.

I have so many photos - I'll post more tomorrow.

Have  a great Sunday, everyone!  :)

  1. Loved the horses! My horses are one of the things that I will miss when fulltiming. Glad to know that I'll still be able to see and enjoy them. I have never been able to get a lightening strike. I look forward to the day that I accidentally get it right. Great job!

  2. I know it's late commenting on this post rather then your last but just got back in town and playing catch-up on blog reading.

Kathy and I have a Pilot/Flying J RV PLUS card. All the Flying Js have people that are trained in dispensing propane on duty 24/7. By using the card you get discounts on propane, gas, diesel, dumping and instore purchases.

The RV lanes are generally equipped with the fuel pumps, fresh water, window cleaning supplies, compressed air and the dumping stations so you stop once and take care of everything needed.

    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

  3. Lightning is one thing I've never been able to capture in a picture. Love yours. And those are definitely the kind of neighbors that you can really enjoy.

  5. Such beautiful horses; obviously used to people being around since they moved right through the RVs to the water. That is one great looking place and your current site is wonderful. Loved the lightning shot too!

  7. What a gorgeous spot you have here. We didn't make it to this state park when we went through NM last year, but I am most definitely adding it to the list!

  11. Getting to watch the horses was the best part about Bluewater Lake SP, other than the pretty views. Looks like you got the prime site. We've always been there in winter and there was rarely anyone camped down by the water. We'd rather be up above the lake looking down, too.

  12. This site should help you out. http://myrewards.pilotflyingj.com/
By the sounds of the other gas stations they were helping you to use the fuel that you had just purchased.
