Pictureless Wednesday

I know, I know, it's supposed to be Wordless Wednesday, but I have some words and no pictures today.

Okay, finally - we're heading back to Quartzsite tomorrow.  :)  People to see, places to go, things to do.  Yeah!

My package was delivered yesterday afternoon to the post office service at the Christian Service Center down the road.  They are open from 9 to noon four days a week, closed Wednesday, so I can pick it up tomorrow morning and head north to Quartzsite.

I have a couple of things I want to check out at the Big Tent and the other vendors up and down the street, and wanted to arrive before the end of next weekend.  I'm hearing and reading in blog posts that it's starting to wind down - really?  It's only Wednesday, half-way through their SHOW TIME!  I guess a lot of people must have visited the tents early on and are done shopping, which would help the traffic, I'm sure.  Quartzsite people - is the traffic getting lighter?

Today is the third Wednesday of the month - the day my Social Security check dances happily into my checking account.  Man, it's so hard waiting for a check ONCE A MONTH.  When I worked for my son, we were paid weekly, my favorite timeline for paychecks.  Once a month takes FOREVER to come.

I always eagerly anticipate this third Wednesday, and wake up raring to go - turn on the computer, pay the few bills I have every month, and put the rest in the savings account.  It doesn't take long, but I've always loved paying bills and have an elaborate Exel spreadsheet to record everything on.  I'm trying my darnedest to build up the savings account to purchase a PARK MODEL.  I want one SOOOO BAD for a home base.  Each month gets me a little closer.

Every Social Security check day, I want to post - YEAAA, I got my check!  Dumb.  But I do. And now I have.  LOL  I'm betting everyone out there receiving a Social Security check each month feels the same way, right?  (Wish I was the first Wednesday.)

WELCOME to our newest followers, Michael & Imkelina!   They are on the verge of taking possession of a brand new Arctic Fox 25P.  You can read about it on their blog, BlaNicS Waypoints - and guess what?  They have a BATHTUB in the new rig.  I'm so jealous!  But happy jealous...   Welcome Aboard to you both!

From me and Katie, have a great Wednesday everyone!  :)

  1. Well there ya go, get on the road and do the Q, we have always found after the first weekend that things gradually slow down every day. Then next week we can enjoy a lot less people around.
    Have fun.

    1. Good to know! Last year was my first year going to the Big Tent, the previous two years I didn't bother but really wanted to see it last year. I was camped close enough to walk over, so I didn't have to deal with the traffic. :)

  2. Oh yeah. George is on SS, and it's like Christmas when that check magically appeared in the bank account today. I also have a spreadsheet for everything. Be glad in 4 years when I finally get that magic amount too :)

    1. It's wonderful! Of course, I worked all my life for it, but it still feels like "free money" :)

  3. Hi Barbara! We're down at Tyson Wash. We went to shopping on Monday & it was a zoo by about 11. Jim found a water carrier, hat & billfold. I was looking for an outdoor rocking chair & a hummingbird feeder--I got to save some of my SS check that day. We haven't gone back to town but campsites here at Tyson Wash are filling up, not emptying out. That may change when the show is closed.

    1. Must be late arrivals like me! Tyson Wash is a big area, but far enough from town that you won't get toooo crowded. I'll bet La Posa West is a zoo right now. I remember last year, people were crowding in behind the rigs on the wash, my friend had her things run over twice! Those were visitors to the tent that came in cars, then left. My friend finally blocked off the area around her rig to keep people out!

    1. Me, too. I wasn't going to head back, but there are too many people I want to see and if I don't come back, it'll be another year. I'll be there tomorrow. :)

  5. I was at the big tent this morning and it was very crowded. Traffic was backed up for a couple of hours heading north on 95 this morning so it's still pretty busy.

    1. Oh... I hope I don't have a problem getting to where you guys are. Of course, it it's super crowded on 95, I can pull off at La Posa South until the afternoon when things open up a bit. I'll have to see when I get there. I sure don't want to sit in traffic for a couple of hours. Thanks for the info. :)

  6. My federal retirement goes into my account at the end of the month, and stretching it to fit the month it does take some getting used to.

I think I like pictureless better than wordless, although I do like your pictures.

    1. Really? That's interesting. I always like photos, but of course, it wouldn't be much of a blog without words, I guess. I thought I was giving you all a break from all the pictures I usually post. Good to know. LOL

    1. Yes, I'm curious about your tub. I know they aren't super large or deep, but... When I had a house I'd always let the hot water trickle into the tub to keep the water warm until it finally ran out, then I'd be done with my bath. I loved just soaking and reading a good book in the tub. I wonder if bubble bath and bath oils can be used in an RV bathtub. Probably not the oils. I'm sure you'll find a way to enjoy it! :)

  8. I don't know who saw it slowing down, but traffic was crazy on Monday when I was out and about and also today. Monday I abandoned most of my errands and just drove back to the campsite. Too much, too too much. I popped in to the tent today to see a specific vendor. Popped back out right after, but from what I saw the tent was pretty busy.

Looking forward to seeing you and Katie tomorrow!

    1. Rats! I guess if you're popping in and out of town it can't be too bad for me to just drive to the La Posa West entrance, right? :)

    2. We try to leave for town before 9-9:30, otherwise the traffic is unbearable. We're going into town this morning to buy a dominos set (should've picked it up when we were there Monday) & get some propane, bacon & chocolate. The necessities of life...

  10. bummer I have to wait another week for my SS its the 4th Wednesday I like your idea of a park model as a base that sounds like it might fit me someday with a small rv to travel in something I must think about

  11. I get my SS the same day!!! always have to check if it is there, OCD I am sure.... why would it NOT be there, catastrophic at best, is what it would be or mean.. but always have to check.... was like that with my paycheck too... took me forever to trust and have it sent to my checking account.. ONE time when I still had to have it in my hand it was late, the mail truck got stuck in a snow storm on the mountain from Salem... served me right, huh, made everything late that month!!!
