Just a quick update

Just wanted to post a quick update.  There's not much going on, but I didn't want anyone worrying about me.

 Snowy Egret

I've been improving a bit every day, then I hit the wall, as they say, and my recovery has stalled.   Everything is fine, but I'm still in some pain when I move around, and getting tired of it.  I know it's just a matter of time, but jeez, it's been a month and I'm getting tired of resting, you know?  Anyway, enough complaining, but that's why things are so quiet in The Palms. :)

Katie and I have been walking to the lake every day. Not a long walk, but enough.   I've also been continuing on with my planned medical appointments for the month of February.  The new dentist last week was great, I liked him, his staff and the office location, but after all the x-rays were taken and they went over my intake info, they wanted me to pre-medicate before the periodontal check and teeth cleaning.  The dentist wrote an Rx which I filled at Walmart for $4, and I go back tomorrow (Tuesday) to complete the testing and cleaning.  They did say I don't have any cavities or cracks or anything that needs attention, and I floss a lot, so I'm assuming all will go well and I'll be done for another six months.

What are they all looking at?

This morning I went in for my vision test, and my eyesight is almost the same as it's been for a few years.  I got my prescription for reading/computer glasses at Kaiser optometry, but my insurance doesn't pay for glasses.  Kaiser had about five frames that were only $150 for the total package of frames and lenses.  These few frames were their cheapest, but I didn't like any of them, so I checked Walmart and Costco, and found Costco had the best prices.  I ordered my new glasses there, and they'll be here in about 10 working days.

Wood Duck on bench back, and Mallards

That's about all that's been happening around here.  The weather has been great, then today we had cloud cover and a little rain is expected tomorrow, which will be nice and cozy and will bring out more of our feathered friends.

From Me and Katie, have a great Monday evening, everyone!  :)

  1. Good to hear from you but sorry to hear your recovery has stalled. I suppose that's not too unusual but make sure you let your doctor know what's going on. I hate being incapacitated to any degree so understand what you're saying. Hugs to you and Katie. Take care and blog when you feel up to it. We'll be here...

  2. My experience has always been that I seem to be making such progress and then hit that wall for a while. Maybe that is Nature keeping us from overdoing things, but whatever, I hope you can be patient.

  3. Good luck on your recovery. It looks like you are in a great spot to recover. The photos the past few days you post have been great. Beautiful birds and ducks. My hounds would be at the end of their 25' retractable leashes and pulling hard if they saw them. LOL

  4. You'll get there, it just takes time. I still think that the RV is the best recovery room!

  6. Most of us fail to realize we don't heal as quickly as we used to, besides your body experienced quite a trama compounded by anestetics. Be patient with yourself remember you're retired so what's the rush.

    It's about time.

  7. Jim is getting really antsy at the rehab center because he thinks he's feeling so good. But I'm afraid he's going to hit that wall for awhile too. I hope he's home this week but he's not strong enough yet.

It's good to know you are still out there walking but sure am sorry about the pain. Being in pain just makes life so hard.

  11. For decades I had to take antibiotics before dental appointments because of rhuematic fever, supposedly any bacteria or infection you may have in your mouth during dental procedures goes strait into your blood stream and can cause problems. So after major surgery would assume they would want to safe guard y ou against any type of possible bug. You sound like me I never cut myself slack, but in reality our bodies just dont bounce as well as they did in our 20-30's
    You'll be back 100% soon,

  13. Sorry you think you are now up against a wall in your recover. But look how much your getting done. It takes time for us to heal now that we have gotten younger. Just let the healing take its course and you will be driving to somewhere so enough.
And like others have mentioned above what a wonderful place to heal and rest.
