Katie and I are in town for three days, and look what I found in our shelter as I was loading the chairs into The Palms for our short drive. His head is on the left, and the little horn is on his tail. In the first photo he's stretched out, moving along the wall:
Here he is by my fingers - he's more scrunched up here, between stretches as he moves forward. He's a big guy - these worms used to give me the creeps, but now that I know the beautiful White Lined Sphinx, or Hummingbird Moth comes from them, they don't seem as ugly:
Here's what they turn into - these photos and more were posted HERE.
I was so amazed and excited when I first saw these Sphinx Moths.
I couldn't resist two more photos of the goats in the yard behind the campsites:
And finally two shots of little Katie, and I'm out of photos. I'd better get out a little more - and remember to bring my CAMERA!
But Mommmmm, I don't want to get up yet!
Every so often, Katie gets frisky and runs into the kitchen and starts messing around with the little rug in there. Then she stops to see if I'm paying attention - little brat:
From me and Katie, have a great Sunday, everyone! (PBS has a good (I hope) Masterpiece Theater tonight - the first of three episodes. I'm going to watch...)
Aw, the poor little bird. I hope he was comforted. When I first saw the picture of the worm I shuddered, but then looking at what it turns into made me take a second look. Nature is amazing isn't it? Why is it that dogs love to scrunch up area rugs. I've never had a dog that didn't do it.
ReplyDeletePoor lil bird, but loved the worm/moth photo! that Katie! HaHaHa, just reminds me of fraser especially if its cold.

ReplyDeleteKatie is so dang funny! Gotta love the little pee-wee. Sorry about the bird.
ReplyDeleteYou certainly tried to keep the little bird alive. Love the photos of Katie, especially the 'I want to sleep in' one!
ReplyDeletepoor birdie :( the Sphinx Moths is another reason I was sad
ReplyDeletethat my butterfly bushes didn't make it thu the winter...I had them
at the bushes every summer...
Thank you so much for taking care of the little yellow bird! He did have loving hands! The photo of Katie in bed is darling and she's very frisky in the kitchen shot! The caterpillar and the sphinx is so educational. I learned that the horn is in the butt!
ReplyDeleteI love the photo of Katie in bed.
ReplyDeleteOver the years, I have raised (or comforted on their way to bird heaven) many little birds. It felt wonderful to be able to release them to fly on their own, but knowing that I provided a safe place for some of their last hours/days made it worth the efforts. You probably have the same motherly feelings, yah?
ReplyDeleteVirtual hugs,
Judie
What a beautiful pattern on that worm.!! If I ever run into one remind me I said that if I scream!!
ReplyDeleteSorry about the baby bird. I had one die in my hand once and I sobbed, but was glad I could comfort it. Hugs.x
Poor little bird, but at least he/she wasn't killed by a predator.
ReplyDeleteLove the photo of Katie under the blankets...I feel like her most mornings! :)
Ah, Katie. She's always good for a great photo shot! For some reason your blogs aren't showing up on my reading list. I'll have to go back and check out why!!
