Full-timing in our 24-foot 2006 Forest River Sunseeker 2200 as of June 1, 2011, I've added solar panels and a catalytic heater so that we can camp off-grid comfortably. My dog, Katie, is great company. We traveled a bit in the Western States our first year, and visited the deserts of Arizona and most of the New Mexico State Parks the next four. This year - 2016 - I'm hoping to find a park model to buy so we will have a home base, but we'll continue to travel, too. What a life! :)

Wordless Wednesday - Bluewater Dam in the setting sun
WELCOME to our newest Followers! We have three new Followers, and none of them show any profile information or blog links, so I can't give you any information about them today.
First is bargirl23811 - she does not have a photo, but is shown with the rest of the Followers with photos - how did you do that?
Next is Lisa Dage. Lisa has a photo only, but that's all for now.
And finally, dkauffeld, who is our newest Follower. dkauffeld is at the beginning of the follower list in the "no photo gallery."
If any of you have blogs, please leave a comment so I can give you a shout out with your blog link. Katie and I are very happy you are following along with us, welcome aboard to you all! :)
From me and Katie, have a great Wednesday, everyone! :)

Finally! I captured lightning!
I took so many photos during the last thunder and lightning storm, and looking at the photos on the camera I didn't see a single lightning strike. But when I pulled them up on the computer, I had gotten two lightning shots. I got a few last year with my old camera, and really wanted to get some with the new camera this year, too. Here they are:
The strikes were coming down from under the clouds. The second photo has strikes on the right and left side of the tree. I'm going to try to get more lightning photos if these storms continue.
I caught this squirrel sitting on a broken tree branch, appearing to be a lookout. See the other squirrel right at the top of the photo? Just like the lightning photos, I didn't see the second squirrel until I uploaded the photo. I wonder what they were looking at.
We have some pretty flowers coming up, probably more than last year because of all the rain. The grounds are all green, too, and this keeps the dust down. I've hardly had to clean my floors since I've been here.
WELCOME to our new Followers:
First is Woody - whose blog is called I Am Woody. Woody and her husband, Vol Fan, who is a project manager for a construction company, usually move every 3 to 6 months for his job. She says, "I have a bit of wanderlust so life on the road suits me." Hey, Woody, it doesn't look like you have an RV, do you? If not, you'd be a perfect candidate for a rolling home. I loved your photos of Carlsbad Caverns. Thanks for following along with me and Katie!
And next, this is kind of weird, but I found some followers at the end of the list, you know, the people who are Followers but don't have a photo? They are included at the end, and don't show on our posts, so often they go unrecognized. I didn't realize there were this many that I don't think I've welcomed in previous posts, so if you are here, please consider yourself Welcomed!
Katie and I appreciate all our Followers, whether you have a photo or not. :)
From me and Katie, have a great Thursday, everyone! :)

Last year this field across from the electric sites was all dirt, with some small tufts of green. |

Another visit from the Hairy Woodpecker
Then two Pinyon Jays landed on the same spot. One was twisting his head quizzically toward the feeder, and I was ready and hoping to get the shot if he tried to feed from it. But he and his companion jumped up to the higher limbs then flew away.
Anyway, this little guy stayed long enough for me to get some good shots yesterday, and here he is:
Tons of rain still. I don't know how long the summer monsoons last here because in 2012 I headed north into Colorado and missed most of it, I think.
Look at how the wind is blowing the hummingbird feeder. |
Last night a little after 10 I was in bed listening to the radio, which is right by my pillow. The rain was so hard on the roof, I turned up the radio all the way and couldn't hear it. I finally turned it off and the noise on the roof made it hard to sleep. Finally it slowed down.
Raindrops bouncing off the street. The street was WET and the drops were BIG. |
Boy, I'm so glad I don't have any leaks. This summer has sure been a good leak testing time with all the rain, and it's been blowing from all sides.
Look at the rain pouring down the windows. |
I am still enjoying the rain and finding the storms exciting. I'm sure glad I like rain.
From me and Katie, have a great Tuesday, everyone! :)

Hummers - why can't they find the food?
Here are some of the hummingbird photos where they couldn't find the nectar, I've never seen them do this before:
It was fun watching them, but I did feel bad for the poor birds. Mostly the Rufous has been here lately, and he knows exactly where to go.
WELCOME to our newest follower, Skylady whose blog is RV There Yet? She and her husband, RV - yes, those are his initials - retired and moved from the Washington, DC area to Florida, then decided they weren't ready to settle down yet. Skylady suggested RVing, and to her surprise, her husband agreed! Or as she says in her blog, she almost croaked when he agreed with her. They have been full-timing since 2007 and are still going strong in their Class A Tiffen motor home. Check out her blog to see where they recently had lunch - very interesting! Welcome aboard, Skylady, Katie and I are happy to have you along on our travels! :)
From me and Katie, have a great Monday, everyone! :)
