We stopped at one of the three Walmarts in Yuma and spent over $150 - Yikes! That wasn't good, right? But I got myself a couple of things I wanted besides food, so it was okay. :)
Then we drove down to the Quechan Casino Resort in Winterhaven, CA. It was only 9.3 miles from the Sam's Club on Pacific Avenue in Yuma to the Casino. Very easy to find.
So now we are right near the border and I'm ready for my Thursday morning dental appointment. I called the office to confirm the appointment, yes, it's confirmed. The 8:00 time is ARIZONA time, even though that area is in the California time zone. I confirmed that, too. She said we could again get the "escort" car to drive us to the dental office. And the visit would take an hour and a half. So I have all the info I need.
My friend Dale was planning on a trip to Las Algodones and he offered to join me - of course I gladly accepted. He'll be here tomorrow afternoon and we will drive to the border and walk over together the next morning. He has also offered to stay at the dentist's office in case I need an opinion, etc., like last time, and if he doesn't mind waiting until the work starts, I'd appreciate having someone else there with me. (It's hard to act like an adult all the time, ya know?)
Katie and I took a walk around the casino. It's windy today and the surrounding landscape is pretty arid and barren, but it was still a nice walk. This is what we saw:
Along one of the walls we had some Bougainvillea espalier training going on. This was one of the prettier plants below. I love Bougainvillea, the house I grew up in had a chimney on the side of the house that was covered with it.
Behind the casino I saw a bunch of slot machines. I wondered if they were new arrivals or headed to the boneyard. I guessed they were new, because they sure were shiny.
Coming attractions - the Tony Orlando Christmas Show:
Katie has been walking really well since all her romps with Steve the dog. The seroma on her right rear ankle is almost gone and doesn't seem to be swelling up when she walks a lot. I'm hoping it's finally going away. We've taken some pretty long walks in the last few days and she's done fine, just like her old self. Fingers crossed that it keeps up.
Oh, yeah - a quick question - does anyone out there have a recommendation for a brake shop in Yuma? My rear dual tires smell like burning rubber when I stop and I've had the tires checked twice. They are fine. I've been told it's probably the brake pads hanging up. I'd love a recommendation from you!
From me and Katie, have a great Tuesday, everyone! 💓😊💓
Hope everything goes well for you, and that Katie's leg continues to heal.
ReplyDeleteVirtual hugs,
Judie
Thanks, Judie! Me, too!! :)
DeleteHope everything goes well for both you and Katie.
ReplyDeleteBe Safe and Enjoy!
It's about time.
Rick and Kathy - Thanks! I appreciate that! :)
DeleteCrikey ..... Katie's looking real good. We've been out of action for a while. Mum's having big trouble with her eyes and can't be on the computer too much but we do pop in and try and keep up on what's going on. It's good to know all is well in your world although Mum reckons dental work sux, aye?
ReplyDeleteHey, Charlie! Good to hear from you. Yes, dental work sux for sure, and so do eye issues. I hope your Mum isn't having too much trouble. Take care of her. :)
DeleteGood for Katie. She does look good. Good luck in the dental chair. I'm sure you will do well. Think of the relief when it's done!
ReplyDeleteHi Kim - yes, Katie is doing really well! About the dental chair - I keep thinking, in two days the worst of it will be over, this morning I thought - at this time tomorrow I'll be there, etc. The funny thing is, I really don't mind the dentist. I think all this is a bit of come-back from my childhood when the dentist was pretty painful without Novocaine. Luckily, now you get one shot and relax till it's over. :)
DeleteGood morning Barbara, imagine my surprise when I read your blog this morning then went back and read all the gory details! I was in Dr. Rubio's office on Monday (Nov. 28), saw Dr. Rafel and am going back today, Thursday to finish my crown work. I too have been very pleased with their care. Good luck with the rest of your work!
ReplyDeleteThat's a coincidence! I'm glad to hear you are happy with Dr. Raphael, too. I thought he was very professional and really seemed to know what he was doing. So far, I couldn't be happier! Good luck with your final appointment. :)
DeleteKatie's good and soon you will be good as well.Nice and close to the border is real handy for you and nice ofDale to come along with you as well.
ReplyDeleteHi - yes, soon all will be back to normal. But as my friend, Jeanne, and I always say, a little stress in our lives is good for us. Keeps the heart going. And if it doesn't kill us, we'll have a good story to tell. Right? LOL :)
DeleteHow sweet of Dale to go with you. I always like to have someone to bounce major decisions off of, too. Good luck tomorrow! I'm sure you'll do just fine.
ReplyDeleteHi Donna - yes, it was really nice to go over together. He waited for me while I was in the dentist's chair, it was an hour. Luckily everything went well and there were no surprises. :)
DeletePerhaps I missed something along tube way, but what do you do with Katie while your at the dentist?? When I get on the road in going to want to take advantage of the Mexican Medics!! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteLauri
Hi Lauri - the first time, three weeks ago, we left our rigs in the Quechan Casino parking lot and took the truck to the border parking lot. We both left our dogs in our rigs. This time I drove to the parking lot in my rig and just left Katie inside. It was an 8:00 am appointment and the weather wasn't too hot or too cold, so she was fine. :)

Thanks, Judy - I did check that site, and made some calls. Thanks!! :)
