Guess who I got to meet?

Nina, of "Nina and Paul," and Wheeling It!   Unfortunately Paul wasn't able to make it - he stayed home to watch Polly, who was having a problem with one of her legs.  We were all sorry we missed you, Paul - but very happy that Nina still came by to visit us.  What a cutie pie!   After reading Wheeling It! for so long and passing them like ships in the night, we were finally in the same place at the same time, and got to chat a bit.

Jeanne, Denise and Nina:

Gayle, Jeanne, kB, Chris, Jimbo and Kim:

Katie got her own little visit with Nina:

Suzanne, Jim and Gayle:

Kim is such a dog lover, and Katie LOVES Kim!

Nina, Jeanne, Joe, kB, Denise, Tara, Debbie:

Suzanne, Jim and Nina:

Remember the photo I posted a bit ago with the bare tree against the mountains at sunset - with a hawk in it?  Well, here are a couple of photos of the hawk earlier in the evening.  Isn't he a beauty?

American Coot in Mittry Lake:

A couple of Grackles on the big rock outside The Palms:

Hummingbird at the feeder:

Katie has always liked Denise's Bennie, but she really LOVES Tara and Joe's Milo.  Whenever he was outside, Katie would get so agitated I thought she was going to go potty in the house.  I'd quickly let her out, and over she would run to visit Milo and Bennie.  She sure liked all the dog socializing here at Mittry Lake:

And a final "see you later" to Nina.  Thanks for dropping in for a visit, I so enjoyed meeting you and hope that next season we'll have a bit more time to chat.  Safe travels to you and Paul on your way to the big city!

From me and Katie, have a great weekend, everyone!  :)

  1. Goodness gracious...I don't think I've seen that many pics of myself in a blog post ever LOL. It was a real treat to meet you and Katie too. So happy our paths finally crossed!

    1. I know - a little overkill. But I liked these and trust me, there were MORE. I figured those make up for the years we missed each other. LOL

    1. Katie was so cute with Bennie and Milo, and they were very gentle with her. And Nina - you could tell she's a dog person. She has her own, and cats, too. :)

    1. Thanks - honestly it's easier to capture the animal wildlife than the people wildlife. I had so many candid photos of our visit with Nina, and there was always someone making a funny face, ya know? I don't like posting bad photos of people, so-in the trash they went.

  4. Looks like you're becoming quite the party animal. As long as you're enjoying yourself and having fun, that's what counts.

    1. Heck no, I'm not a party animal at all! After a bit of socializing, I'm back in the desert just hanging out again. I'm finding I like a balance of solo time or camping with one or two other campers, then a group works for a while. I think most of us are like this. Too long in a group and I want to be alone. Too long alone and I want to be in a group again. :)

  6. My word you've been the party person lately. And having so much fun. Sometimes the chemistry is just there - Katie and Milo. So cute.

    1. Every year I meet new people and get to visit more with old friends. The circle expands each year. That's the best thing about Quartzsite - usually I get to see my RV friends while we are all there. And YOU and JIM, too! Katie was so fun to watch with Milo. :)

  7. You did get a great shot of that hawk. And I enjoyed seeing your happy hour photos, since I neglected to get any myself!

    1. Thanks, Gayle. I wish I had taken more - many of the shots I took weren't blog-worthy. Just like my normal animal shots, I can take 50 photos to get one good one. :)

    1. Hi Jan - I've had very few "not great" days in the last four years, that's for sure. I always love getting photos of hawks. I see so many of them along the highways, but don't usually get close-up photos. :)

  9. Looks like you had a great time at Mittry Lake, and yes that's a young red-tailed hawk.

    1. I thought he was a red-tailed hawk, but wasn't sure. He sat in that tree every evening I was there. Pretty cool. :)
